With the older problematic versions of ZoneAlarm it is not sufficient to disable ZoneAlarm – ZoneAlarm must be completely uninstalled to remove it from the network stack. A reboot is required after uninstalling ZoneAlarm.

The PC-cillin firewall will block communication if the network is configured in Windows as a “public” network. In the Network and Sharing Center ensure the network is configured as “private”.
NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager
The NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager software may cause HDHomeRun Setup and/or the DVR application to abort with an application error. Uninstalling NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager will solve the problem.

FC6 runs a firewall by default. If the HDHomeRun cannot be discovered then open UDP port 65001 or disable the firewall.
